31/1/10 Nearly there!
- MV Julia arrives in Swansea for final preparations before commencing sailing on March 1st

The Julia set sail before dawn on Sunday 31st January 2010 from Ringaskiddy Terminal (Cork) to Swansea Dock for dry-docking, safety certification and a little internal work - and is now in the Harris-Pye docks.

As with all passenger ships, she has to undergo an annual dry-docking for inspection by flag state and classification society in order to renew her passenger and other certificates. A host of examinations will be conducted including the inspection, cleaning and anti-fouling of the ship's hull, overhauling of the overboard discharge valves and checking of the propellers and propeller shafts.  All main and auxiliary engines will be overhauled, examined and tested.

The M.V. Julia will also undergo work to enhance the vessel's public areas, ensuring safety and comfort for her passengers and crew. A new children's play area will be built and four new deluxe cabins will be added (bringing a total of 14 deluxe cabins).

She’ll be back in Ireland again in time for her inaugural commercial sailing on the 1st of March 2010, returning from Swansea to Cork on the 3rd of March and then operating her regular schedule. Online bookings for the 2010 season are now being accepted at www.fastnetline.com.

Thanks to everybody who has worked together over the last two years to make this dream a reality - you’re all heroes!
